28 Jan Best Date Spot in Northcote – Estelle Bistro by Scott Pickett.
For a true lovely, and we mean lovely, night out in Northcote, Estelle Bistro will not disappoint. From their degustation menu to a la carte, the food is enticing as it is elegant. Looking for the best date spot in Northcote? We’ve found it.
The Estelle Bistro in Northcote immediately haunts and enchants its guests, especially after its recent makeover. Gone are the retro pink and grey tiles. In their place is exposed brick wall and dark timber paneling that extends to the bar and tables. The rustic-chic bistro around the L-shaped bar makes you feel as though you’re dining inside a private wine cellar, dark and smoky with brass fixtures to reflect the moody lighting. As you walk outside, past the bright window that exposes part of the kitchen, a back courtyard opens up. White tablecloths and hanging green plants create an elegant contrast to the dusky interior and truly give the place an indoor-outdoor flow.
At The Estelle Bistro, you have the option to choose between few different modes of dining, from an a la Carte Menu, to a Three Course Choice Menu for $70 to a Five Course Chef’s Tasting menu for $90. The Tasting Menu is set on the date by the chef, and the Three Course menu allows you to choose one starter, one main and one dessert.
Popular starters are the Duck Terrine and Heirloom Tomato with Watermelon and Feta. After you’ve licked your plate, move along to the Barramundi with Black Rice and Fennel or the Diamond Valley Pork, tender on the inside and crackling on the outside, with a Carrot and Golden Raisin Puree.
Always save room for dessert. The Vanilla Cheesecake with Summer Berries is a surprisingly light way to finish off your meal, but for those of you who can’t go to bed without chocolate, the Tart with Salted Caramel Ice Cream should do you.
