Best Pizza in Collingwood: Lazerpig Pizza Parlour

Lazerpig Pizza in Collingwood Best Date Spot.

10 Jan Best Pizza in Collingwood: Lazerpig Pizza Parlour

Lazerpig Pizza Parlour is Collingwood’s mongrel of a pizza place, deliciously weird. For the best pizza in the hood, get after this wood-oven fired dough with original topping combos, served up in an eclectic-meets-old school pizza parlour.

Lazerpig Pizza Parlour is the type of place that jars your senses, from the neon pig hanging over the facade to the loud punk rock music that floats through the restaurant. You can still see the bones of the old Star Hotel in the warm wood of the bar and inviting fireplace. However, what once was is now  covered up by strange new additions, like a working disco ball, an array of fish tchotchkes and a black, shiny-tiled bottle display wall that calls to mind a modern Japanese restaurant. Pair it all with red-and-white-checkered tablecloths and romantic candles dripping wax onto their holders, and you might just put it together that this place serves some form of Italian food.

Lazerpig Pizza Parlour was featured in What’s Grub Got To Do With It? – our show on the best date spots in each Melbourne neighbourhood because what’s more laid back than munching on the best pizza in the neighbourhood?

The Pizzas are the reason people flock to this joint. Hats off to the chef for that crust, which we all know is the best part. The dough is light and flavourful, made with a five-year sourdough culture, proved for at least 72 hours and baked in their handmade wood-fired oven at 400 degrees. It makes the perfect base for their punny pizzas, like the Prawn Fraser–Tomato on bottom, then Prawns, Buffalo Mozzarella, Chili, Roquette and Pesto– or the Mary Had a Little Lamb–Slow-Cooked Spring Lamb, Fior de Latte, Red Onion, Olives, Feta, Rosemary and Lemon.

Their fish and pasta of the day are almost always on point. The beer and wine list are veritable, and they even offer a few daring Spritz options on their cocktail menu, so you’ll have plenty of swig options to wash down that tasty pseudo-Italian delicacy.
