What started as a series of food shows created by three friends sick of being burned by crowdsourced reviews and paid-for recommendations has evolved into a mediatech startup reimagining the dining out experience for Diners, Chefs and Venues.
Hood Food Guide connects diners with chefs & restaurateurs in every Australian neighbourhood for trustworthy restaurant recommendations and chef services via our mobile-and-video-first platform.
Diners receive restaurant recommendations from chefs to help make dining decisions easier, faster and more satisfying.
Chefs raise their profiles by providing restaurant recommendations to diners to simultaneously promote their venues and the private services they can offer to diners to generate smarter revenue.
Venues leverage these high-quality chef testimonials and video to drive more traffic more efficiently and more effectively.
After our three successfully licensed shows in a partnership with Virgin Australia and Visit Victoria, 40+ neighbourhoods, 100+ chefs and 1000s of recommendations from chefs, the app will be launched in 2018 focusing on Australia’s capital cities with more original vertical content and features planned.
From January 2018, HOOD FOOD GUIDE is viewable on all domestic and international Virgin Australia flights.

Hood Food Guide was created by Tom Nijam, Sanjay De Silva and Barun Chatterjee and Neighbourhood Films, a creative production company telling stories not often told in an Australian landscape with a focus on long and short form branded content for agencies, brands, broadcast, and our own platforms.
